Big Boxing Inc.
Big Boxing made its initial splash on the marketing and advertising scene, by producing the first BOXING BACK TATTOO ADVERTISEMENT deal in the United States. On September 29, 2001, Bernard Hopkins proudly wore the URL GOLDENPALACE.COM on his back for three amazing rounds versus the undefeated legend, Felix Tito" Trinidad. Unfortunately, the fight lasted 12. Though in the end, Hopkins prevailed the Undisputed Middleweight Champion, boxing tattoos and the URL were some of the biggest winners that night. In the beginning, Big Boxing was a sports marketing company that represented the endorsement interests of over 50 boxers worldwide. Never one to sit on its laurels, Big Boxing became an innovative, aggressive, sports and entertainment marketing company, that represents sponsors interests of all kinds. The company grew to service its clients in a variety of traditional and non-traditional mediums in the sport of boxing, and has become one of the largest, most-reputable advertising purchasers in the sport.
Every marketing opportunity we present to our clients has been researched and hand tailored to fit their budget, reputation, and most importantly, their RETURN ON INVESTMENT. We take pride in our ability to adapt to the needs of our clients, and the marketplace. Our dedicated, selfless staff is the key to our tremendous success. Take a look at who we are, and we believe you will want to work with us to provide your company BIG results.
Joe Lear
Founder and C.E.O
Quote: "I am a fighter. Inbetween rounds, fighters go back to their corner and with the assistance of their team, they create a way to effectively get the job done. Me too. I spend my time in the corner with my team as well. They offer me expert advice and creative solutions. I then take a deep breath, leave the corner, AND GET THE JOB DONE."
As the founder and C.E.O. of Big Boxing, Joe Lear has inked many profitable and highly publicized marketing campaigns, commonly known around the world today. In the past year, he has been featured in Sports Illustrated, ESPN’s Outside the Lines, The Jim Rome Television Show, Philadelphia Daily News, Maxboxing.com, and many other media outlets. The reason being is the uniqueness of his marketing campaigns along with his proactive approach to defend his clients and his products.
Lear has been the leading force in changing legislation in Nevada to allow more marketing opportunities for fighters. He successfully accompanied Bones Adams to Nevada Circuit Court, to secure a Permanent Injunction against back tattoo advertising in that state.
As an Alumni of the University of Arizona, Lear partner’s up, annually, with Ex Wildcat basketball Superstars: Joseph Blair, Jason Terry and others. They conduct a charity basketball camp for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Tucson, Arizona. In Miami, Florida, where Lear presided for 7 years, he does a similar football, charity event with Ex Miami Superstars: Warren Sapp, Duane Starks, Ray Lewis and Ryan Collins. The underprivileged children of Opa Locka, Florida, along with local schools receive computers, scholarships, clothes and food.
With his, drive, creativity and charitable disposition Joe Lear is currently enjoying his business relationships on highly profitable and personal level.
Richard Blank
Director of Marketing
Quote: “Marketing is a journey, and it never ends. I believe in the three C’s: Communication, Comprehension and Creativity. By Communication with each other, we can work through changes as they occur. We will be able to further Comprehend our clients needs and they will further Comprehend our services. With Creativity on each side of the table, together we can make the journey a success!”
Richard Blank has been consulting websites and web based businesses on successful marketing solutions for nearly a decade. His communication and creativity has invented many successful campaigns still in use today. As Director of Marketing, Richard spends most of his business day with the sponsoring company.
Our marketing department concentrates solely on the sponsor, not the fighters.
We meet with our sponsors regularly to better serve them. From our meetings, the marketing department gathers information to track progress, discover problems, and gather new data about our sponsors. Richard reviews all the information with his staff, and together with the sponsor, they create a plan within the sponsor’s budget, needs and desires.
Brad Peterson
Director of Golf Promotions
Quote: ”I love every aspect of the game of golf. I have set records in the long ball competition, and have created a variety of instructional videos for people to learn. But my passion runs deeper. I believe there is a huge void in golf sponsorships. Companies and golfers can do a whole lot more to promote and sell their products, and themselves. So that’s my job, and I love it!”
Brad Peterson approached Big Boxing in early 2003 with an idea of bringing our special form of advertising to the sport of golf. He has set world records in the long ball competition and currently has a variety of instructional videos on the market. Peterson is a private instructor to many famous actors, actresses and other professional athletes in the NBA, MLB and the NFL. By working with athletes in other sports, Peterson has become very aware of the many missed opportunities for effective sponsorship in the sport of golf. Peterson has created several, unique, sponsorship packages which as never been seen in the sport of Golf. Just like Boxing, our goal is to once again be trailblazers in a new sport, with a list of clientele second to none, in both athletes and sponsoring companies. It is Peterson’s job to oversee and manage his department to reach our goal.
Kurt Emhoff
Legal Department
Quote: "I've been a fan of boxing since the age of three, when seeing "Smokin'" Joe Frazier defending his heavyweight crown on network TV captured my imagination. The fact that a big part of my legal practice involves the boxing industry is quite a thrill. Big Boxing is bringing in much needed sponsorship and endorsement opportunities to the sport I love. My job is to facillitate those transactions and make sure that all parties involved are protected and come away satisfied that the transaction went just as they had contemplated it would. Dotting the i's and crossing the t's are just as important in the law, as a left jab and right cross are in the Sweet Science."
Mr. Emhoff, a sole practitioner and legal counsel for Big Boxing, was formerly an attorney with Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett, LLP and in-house
counsel at Integrex, a division of Owens Corning. He has substantial experience in both litigation and sports and entertainment issues specializing in the sport of boxing. His clients have included IBF Welterweight Champion Cory Spinks, former IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Terronn Millett, former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Louis Del Valle and contenders Kermit Cintron, Travis Simms, Tarvis Simms, Jeffrey Resto, Paul Malignaggi and Darling Jimenez. Mr. Emhoff graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Penn State and received his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Mr. Emhoff also was a frequent contributor to the on-line boxing publications www.maxboing.com and www.secondsout.com. Mr. Emhoff has been quoted in the popular boxing publications The Ring and KO Magazine and he has lectured on lawyering in the boxing industry at Boston University School of Law.
